Fulham

Much gentrified and increasingly fashionable, Fulham has mainly Victorian terraces, conversions, and modern developments of flats and houses .

Its close proximity to Kensington and Chelsea, combined with its convenient central location and easy access to the river ensured that it would always remain a desirable residential area.

Gentrification in the 80's brought young professionals and middle class families, a process reflected in the fashionable shops, wine bars and restaurants to be found on its main thoroughfares. Fulham is solidly middle class, and very sought-after.

Fulham's main commercial streets-New Kings Road and Fulham Road- are lively and cosmopolitan and have a burgeoning collection of stylish shops, restaurants and bars.

Lillie Road to the north is also becoming increasingly fashionable with its many antique shops, coffee shops and bars. The continental atmosphere is nicely complimented by the international personnel who ply their trade up at Stamford Bridge ( Chelsea F.C.) and Fulham Craven Cottage ( Fulham F. C.). There's also a new development here 'Chelsea Village' which includes a hotel, restaurants and luxury apartments.

Green space is provided by Bishop's Park (tennis and boating), Hurlingham Park (athletics, tennis, swimming), Eel Brook Common and South Park. There are also attractive walks along the riverfront and good sports and leisure facilities.

Tubes include Putney Bridge, Parsons Green, Fulham Broadway (District line).
